BARBARA HANNIGAN

Makes her debut at Teatro alla Scala Barbara Hannigan, a world star whose voice is among the most original and in-demand on the contemporary opera scene. In the dual role of singer and conductor, she plays Elle, a woman at the height of grief, trapped in a world between fantasy and reality, in the original production of Francis Poulenc's La voix humaine against the backdrop of a screen portraying the artist's gestures thanks to video direction by Denis Guéguin and Clemens Malinowski. It is the same Elle who sings and directs Poulenc who conducts the melancholy sounds of Richard Strauss's Metamorphosen, a solemn reflection on the transcendence between the mundane and the divine.
